We are a technology company, but we always put people first. That’s because we go to work every day with people and for people. With more than 80 years’ experience, our company and employees are custodians of a vast fund of knowledge. The KEN Foundation

We are committed to giving back to the local community that supports us and from which many of our employees originate.

This is achieved through donations aimed at urban renewal and local public health initiatives. Additionally, we extend our support to national and international organisations with charitable objectives.

From KEN Maskinfabrik to KEN Hygiene Systems

In 1941, Kaj E. Nielsen established KEN Maskinfabrik in Brobyværk, Denmark. The factory’s very first product was an automatic potato peeler for commercial kitchens. Over the 30 years that followed we added the dishwasher, bedpan washer and instrument sterilizer.

In 1973, the first bedpan and surgical instrument washer disinfector was ready for sale to hospitals and laboratories. That washer came to define what makes KEN the company it is today.

Product sales paved the way for us to grow rapidly into a large company with an international focus. At the same time, we went from being a family-owned company to being owned by the KEN Foundation. To embrace our new product focus even more and grow even stronger internationally, we changed our name to KEN Hygiene Systems in 2016.

Focus on customer needs

Our customers’ needs have been our primary focus from the outset. We always listen and ask questions about each customer’s needs so our development department can come up with the best technological solutions.

Our customer approach is that we must be better tomorrow than we were yesterday. That’s one reason why we think “a complaint is a gift”. A complaint allows us to learn from our mistakes. And that’s the only road to continuous improvement.

For us, good service is paramount. Because it’s the key to having satisfied, loyal customers.
